Want to know my all-time-favorite, forever-go-to fall trend? Plaid! There’s something about plaid that conveys this sense of effortlessness while still staying super stylish and trendy. I don’t know if there are many other pieces out there that can do that, hence the reason I love plaid so much! Not to mention, fall plaid really makes me happy because it means the weather is cooling off and that it’s time for football and pumpkin candles!
Today, I’ve teamed up with Charming Charlie to share my favorite fall plaid pieces and how to accessorize them to make everything fall-appropriate!
Plaid is one of the first ways that I start embracing fall with my wardrobe. Can plaid be worn outside of fall? Absolutely! But plaid usually means flannel shirts or heavier scarves, so it just makes sense that it’d be worn more as the weather cools off.
Even though it was 85 degrees when I photographed this outfit (c’mon, SoCal weather, work with me here!), that hasn’t stopped me from transitioning my wardrobe anyways. A few of my favorite ways to wear plaid include:
- Plaid tops with darker accessories (like my hat, booties, and purse in these photos)
- Longer plaid tops with black denim and boots
- Plaid scarves layered over simple sweaters with distressed denim and booties
- Plaid capes/ponchos with skinny jeans and heeled boots/booties (to elongate my body since ponchos usually make me seem shorter and wider!)
There are a million other ways to style your fall plaid pieces, but those are my favs! And thanks to affordable collections like the StyleWatch x Charming Charlie collection, adding these plaid pieces and accessorizing them is doable and won’t break your budget!
Below, I’m also sharing my favorite plaid pieces that are all under $100 so you can start building your fall wardrobe too!
