We’re back with another “Helpful How-To” video and this week it’s all about “How To Walk Your Dog” with some fun dog walking tips.
Guys, let me just say – I know that you know how to walk your dog. But things like this are so fun to make! Of course we want to also be creating real, actually helpful videos for y’all (like this How To Pack for a Weekend Getaway post!), but we like to keep it light and entertaining as well!
Obviously, I’d love for you to watch the video for our full explanation of these silly tips, but here’s a recap:
|| How to Walk Your Dog – Dog Walking Tips from Jay, Erin, & Dakota ||
Tip #1: Bring potty bags || Don’t be that person that doesn’t pick up after your pet because, as you learned from the video, Jay won’t be your friend anymore. And a fun little side note: Our neighborhood is super strict on this stuff. We’re talking aggressive signs, video cameras, and more!
Tip #2: Walk your dog in a straight line on the sidewalk || This is for safety purpose, but as you can tell from the video, we’re still working on this one. Dakota is an absolute SPAZ when he walks. Oh, dear…
Tip #3: Avoid squirrels || Can you tell how much Dakota loves squirrels?! It’s super fun for him but not so fun for me when he loses his mind and starts chasing them all over the place. It’s safest for everyone involved (particularly the squirrel) if we just avoid any confrontation.
Tip #4: Don’t let your dog pull on the leash || This one is said in complete sarcasm as you can tell from the video. Sometimes Dakota is a fabulous walker, but sometimes he nearly pulls my arm out of its socket (see tip #3 for why). We’re working on it!
Tip #5: Use Cesar Millan’s techniques || Like I told y’all, Jay and I own the book, which is basically the same as reading it. Check out the video for Jay’s spot-on impression of Cesar. I let him know that I was pretty impressed with it (the accent, not so much the content!).
Tip #6: Keep your dog hydrated || Super important! However, Dakota is not a fan. It’s like pulling teeth to get him to drink water… He must get it from me because I’m terrible at staying hydrated too! I love the little game Dakota and I play at the end of the video where we basically have a stare-off until one of us caves.
What other dog walking tips do y’all have us? Anyone else have a dog similar to ours? Tell me about it in the comments!
