This week’s how-to video is a little more on the serious side as we’re sharing our “How to Use Social Media in a Positive Way” video and tips!
Whether we like it or not, social media is a huge deal and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. There are a ton of negative views out there about social media (trust us, we get it and can totally relate!), but since both of us are bloggers and are pretty familiar with the social media realm, we thought we’d share 5 ways to use social media in a positive way instead of spreading hate or giving up on it altogether.
We hope that you can watch this video, learn a few new things, and be encouraged to spread positivity on social media this week!

Be sure to watch the video for the full explanation of these, but here’s a little recap for y’all:
|| HOW TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA IN A POSITIVE WAY ||
Use it to stay in touch with friends and family || Most of the people in our lives use social media, so it’s actually an easy way to stay connected. However, what often happens is that people will stay involved in others’ lives (hello, Facebook stalking), but when they see this person face-to-face, they already know everything that’s been going on, so they don’t ask how the other person is doing or follow up on what they saw/read.
SO, instead of knowing and not asking, know and follow up! Because that person is sharing their life on social media, you can be intentional with them and follow up with what you saw they posted!
Use it to encourage others || Because social media is so easily accessible, it’s super easy to use it to encourage your friends or your spouse. A simple “hey, I’m so happy you were born today” or “my husband is so awesome because he…” post is a great way to encourage people and it’s a luxury we didn’t really have 10 years ago, so utilize social media in this positive way!
Use it to inspire others || Social media can be a place for us to share our vision and hopes with others. If there’s something that’s motivating you that week, share it on social media because there’s a possibility that it may inspire others as well!
Side note: I use my social media accounts to inspire others through my weekly relationship challenges on Instagram as well as relationship challenge blog posts. If you haven’t checked out any of my posts, you should! Wink wink.
Stay positive, but be real || Being real is actually really refreshing on social media and can be a positive thing. Whether you’re having a great day or a not-so-great day, it’s okay to share that. BUT, we would urge you to stay positive in your interactions with others. So even if your day isn’t going super well, try not to take that out on others in your comments or feedback!
Use it to share causes you’re passionate about || Social media has played a large role in raising awareness and helping others. I’ve seen it used to raise money for charities or those in need and to bring awareness to issues or people that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. If there’s something you genuinely care about that benefits others, share it!
Also, Jay and I personally use social media as a platform to share our faith too, so it’s been a neat tool for us to do that!
