I’m so excited to be sharing my Nashville City Guide with all of our favorites places to eat and things to do in this fun city!
We recently took a trip to Nashville for my sister-in-law’s graduation. And let me just say: We absolutely love Nashville! We always said that if we didn’t live in Dallas, we’d want to live in Nashville. (Yet here we are living in Orange County!) We’ve visited Nashville twice before (we love having family members living in cool cities!), so we’re basically experts on the city now.
There are obviously tons of places to stay and eat along with other fun things to do, but I’m a super-planner (like a superhero but with more OCD), so I’ve spent tons and tons of time researching all the best that Nashville has to offer so that Jay and I get the most out of each trip! Jay acts like he gets annoyed by all of my internet-scrolling and review-reading, but I know deep down he’s super grateful for it because we’re never disappointed by an experience!
While we were traveling, several people asked for our Nashville tips, so here you go! I’ve compiled a list of our favorite things we’ve done into this Nashville City Guide so that anyone else traveling there soon knows all of the best spots!
PS: Be sure to watch our NASHVILLE VLOG to see all of the highlights from our trip!

|| EAT ||
- Whiskey Kitchen | This place is obviously known in Nashville for its whiskey collection (Jay’s favorite!). The food is classified as “tavern chic” and is basically a blend of lots of different foods. We went the southern food route because we can’t pass up fried pickles and good BBQ, and it was all super delicious!
- Burger Up | Seriously delicious burgers in a super trendy environment. We’re all about the atmosphere of the places we eat, and Burger Up didn’t disappoint!
- Merchants | Probably my favorite place we ate in Nashville! It’s mostly American dishes, with a few different genres mixed in – Which is my absolute favorite because I’m super indecisive. Anytime I can order tater tots, fried green tomatoes, pulled pork sandwiches, and mac & cheese, I’m a happy camper!
- Hattie B’s | Some darn good chicken. Just take a look at some pictures of their chicken baskets and you’ll be drooling over it for days. I’m hungry just thinking about it.
- Saint Anejo | Super trendy Mexican food. It’s owned by the same company as Whiskey Kitchen and they have the best branding and restaurant concepts! Whenever there’s amazing food in a super-cool environment, I’m sold. And Mexican food is Jay’s favorite, so of course he absolutely loved it.
- Husk | Southern food deliciousness. Seriously, scroll through their food photos, and you won’t be able to handle it. They’ve combined some of the best ingredients to make creative and, you guessed it, “trendy” dishes!
- Pancake Pantry | Don’t dismiss this place as just a restaurant that serves pancakes, because they’ve got other yummy breakfast and lunch foods too. But, guys, you’ve gotta try their pancakes. They have absolutely perfected them!
- The Pharmacy | It’s known as a “burger bar and beer garden” so, yeah, it’s amazing. It’s definitely a “must-visit” when it comes to Nashville burgers and has a more relaxed vibe than Burger Up.
- Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant | Another staple in Nashville known for great southern food. What makes them fun and unique is they have live music every night. So if you’re wanting a more chill, bar-type feel, then this place is perfect!
|| COFFEE ||
- Barista Parlor | Amazing coffee and yummy food too! They’ve got homemade pop tarts… just sayin’.
- Crema | We found this place because it was the highest rated in Nashville on Yelp, and we could definitely see why.
- Frothy Monkey | We did the one in downtown Nashville and the interior was to die for!
|| DO ||
- Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum | We love spending time wandering through museums and we especially love country music (because of our Texas roots, no doubt!), so we had a blast spending the afternoon at the museum.
- Ryman Auditorium | This was definitely one of those surreal moments because of how epic this place is. It’s the original home of the Grand Ole Opry and so many talented people have played there! It was really neat to learn the history behind it all too.
- Arrington Vineyards | These vineyards are about 30 miles outside of downtown Nashville, but they’re super gorgeous. We spent the afternoon sipping a flight of wines on the outdoor picnic tables and even got to walk through the little vineyards. If you’re looking for wine tastings that are closer to downtown, you could also check out Natchez Hills Winery!
- Bar hop on Broadway Street | If you take a look at the website that this one’s linked to, you’ll see that the majority of the “nightlife” places line Broadway Street. We went back to Broadway two days in a row just to check out each of the bars/restaurants along the street and to pop in and listen to the live music. To me, Broadway Street is the epitome of Nashville!
|| STAY ||
- Hermitage Hotel | Super gorgeous and historical! If you’re looking for a place that has that southern charm, then look no further. Multiple presidents have stayed here and several movies/TV shows have even been filmed here!
Nashville residents and other people that have visited, what would you add to my Nashville city guide? We obviously haven’t been able to experience every place in the city, so I’d love to hear your recommendations in the comments for the next time we visit!
