I’m so excited because this Sunday marks the official beginning of spring! I use the word “official” because it’s basically felt like spring here in Southern California for months now, but I’m glad the rest of the country will get to experience it soon too! With that in mind, I’ll be sharing a couple posts over the next few weeks with some spring fashion tips with ideas on how to transition your winter wardrobe into springtime!
Each of my tips are going to come from the outfit I’m featuring that week, so yes, there are lots of spring fashion trends out there, but I can’t combine them all into one outfit because I’d look like a total crazy person! So even though I don’t have all the spring fashion tips here in this post, I hope you’ll still find it helpful! And let’s be honest, it’s better to start with small steps instead of overwhelming yourself with too many ideas all at once!
|| Spring Fashion Tips ||
1 || Sandals
It’s just about time to trade in those boots and booties for some fun sandals. So get those toenails painted and find some cute sandals that make you excited to wear them for springtime!
2 || Denim jackets
Yes, denim jackets can technically be worn year-round, but there’s something about them that scream “springtime” to me! I think it’s because I tend to only wear them with dresses (very spring-y) and white jeans (also spring-y), so they’re an easy spring fashion go-to.
3 || Incorporate bright colors
I tend to match my clothes to the season and weather. So, for example, when it’s winter time, I tend to wear darker colors and reds (I don’t know why reds… maybe because I’m thinking about Christmas?) or when it’s gloomy and rainy, I wear grays. But now that those pretty trees and flowers are blooming with pretty colors, it’s time for my wardrobe to do the same.
Don’t get too overwhelmed with this one if you’re not much of a bright-colors-wearing type of gal. You can start off by simply lightening up your accessories. In my pictures below, you’ll see that just my sandals and earrings are spring-colored. Once you start receiving tons of compliments on your bright colors, I’m sure you’ll become confident enough to start incorporating bolder colors in your main fashion pieces!
4 || Change up your handbag
This one’s a hard one for me because I’m such a saver. I don’t splurge on handbags like some women do (I’m not bragging or saying that’s bad, it’s just not something I’m tempted by!) and I tend to keep the same handbag for as long as possible to get my money’s worth out of it. BUT, as much as I love my black fringe purse that I’ve had since fall, it doesn’t exactly fit with my spring style.
If you’re a saver like me, don’t fret! You don’t need to spend tons of money on your new handbag (have you seen Forever 21‘s and Target’s handbags?!) nor do you need to buy a new one for every season. My basic rule of thumb is that I purchase one darker bag that lasts me for fall and winter and one lighter bag that I use for spring and summer. So you really only need to get 2 bags per year. However, if you’re a handbag hoarder, then by all means, do your thing!
My point is to lighten up your handbag to either a white, light gray, or if you’re feeling super fun, to a brightly-colored option like teal or coral!

Hopefully these 4 spring fashion tips are simple enough to get you started in your wardrobe’s transition into spring! The good news is that you don’t need to totally start over with every item in your closet – you can slowly start to bring in these items as you feel comfortable because these tips also work for summer as well!
